About Skaleta

The small harbour of Skaleta, was in use during the second Byzantine period. Attractions include the churches of Zoodochou Pighis (live-giving spring) and St. Nicholas, as well as archaeological finds. Skaleta’s large, sandy beach, is surrounded by low hills, from the top of which a visitor can enjoy spectacular views especially at sunset.

The beach is one of the last hatching places of the caretta-caretta turtle and the seal of monachus-monachus. The historical and mythological background of the area and the village of Skaleta as well as the beauty of the landscape make the resort attractive to visitors.
